Chemical formulas are used to show how new compounds are formed by chemical reactions. In order to learn how chemical formulas are written, we must first learn to understand the different symbols used to identify compounds that are formed. Introduction: || Jordan The purpose of this lab is to become familiar with chemical formulas and how they are obtained. Chemists use an abbreviated notation to indicate the exact chemical composition of compounds. We then use these chemical formulas to indicate how new compounds are formed by chemical combinations of other compounds. In this lab we took various chemicals and put them through various circumstances. After these little tests, we would look at the substance?s physical and chemical properties whilst documenting them. The most important thing we wanted to take away from this lab was what the chemical formula consists of as well as the changes of mass through the chemical?s various tests.
